
Stephen Wickham Lighting Designer &
Consultant.
Stephen began lighting at
Salisbury Playhouse in the UK in 1978. He later became resident LD at theatres
in Plymouth and Cheltenham lighting numerous plays and musicals. He worked for
"English National Opera" at The London Coliseum for 3 years before
emigrating to Perth Western Australia in 1987.
In Western Australia
Stephen created designs for all the major performing arts companies
including WA Opera, WA Ballet, The Festival of Perth and eleven works for The
Chrissie Parrott Dance Company.
In 1995 he relocated to
Sydney and has since designed works for Opera Australia, The Australian Ballet,
Chunky Move Dance Company, Sydney Theatre Company, The Ensemble Theatre
Company, Meryl Tankard's Australian Dance Theatre, The State Theatre Company of
South Australia and many others.
Stephen was official Lighting
Designer for The Pacific Rim Forum Gala shows in Bangkok, Shanghai, Hong Kong
and at the Sydney 2000 Olympics.
He has designed large scale
touring exhibitions such as "Dinamation", "Mining &
Minerals" and "Australia's Lost Kingdoms" for The Australian
Museum.
In 2001 Stephen was asked by
Tiffany & Co in New York to design a show at The New York Museum of Natural
History to launch their new range of Pearls in a theatrical extravaganza.
He has also designed a new
production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical "Cats" This was the first
ever open air production of the show and it premiered at The Beiteddine
Festival in Lebanon before touring to China, Korea, Malaysia, The Middle East,
Scandinavia and Greece.
